Case study · Manufacturing & Supply Chain
Implementing an ERP for a vertically integrated manufacturer
National vertically integrated manufacturer
Project leadership for an Oracle Cloud ERP programme designed to replace 11 poorly integrated legacy systems and support growth into new markets.

Challenge
The manufacturer’s growth had outpaced eleven legacy systems and the processes around them, creating inefficiency, poor integration and limits on international expansion.
The programme covered finance, procurement, contracts, manufacturing, maintenance, sales orders, inventory and reporting.
The eleven legacy systems were poorly integrated and the surrounding processes could not support future scale. The organisation needed one cloud platform that could unify control, automation, data and analytics across a vertically integrated supply chain.
The client had already completed strategy, Oracle Cloud ERP selection and a detailed business case supported by finance, yield, performance and production-scenario modelling. It now needed disciplined implementation planning and execution.
Approach
Carry strategy into delivery. Carried the prior strategy, product selection and investment logic into delivery. Finance, performance, yield and production-scenario modelling remained connected to scope and benefits decisions.
Establish delivery governance. Defined scope, schedule, resources, communication and risk management across client, vendor and specialist roles. A clear project and deployment framework set responsibilities through each phase.
Work in phases. Used phased deployment to manage enterprise complexity, operational dependencies and change capacity across the organisation.
Keep manufacturing context central. Applied an approach shaped around the client’s vertically integrated supply chain, production environment and operating constraints rather than using a generic ERP method.
Enterprise scope
One platform across the operating chain
The implementation joined the financial, commercial and production processes required to scale the manufacturer into new markets.- 01
Finance
Core financial control, planning and enterprise reporting.
- 02
Procurement and contracts
Supplier, purchasing and contract processes.
- 03
Manufacturing
Production planning, execution and yield visibility.
- 04
Asset maintenance
Maintenance planning and asset information.
- 05
Sales orders
Customer demand and order fulfilment.
- 06
Inventory
Stock, materials and supply-chain visibility.
- 07
Analytics
Real-time dashboards, Power BI and a foundation for future AI use.
Outcomes
The project benefit case identified a 3.6-year payback for a major multi-million-dollar platform investment. The cloud solution replaced fragmented legacy systems with an integrated operating foundation designed for a ten-year-plus investment horizon.
The programme established standard processes, real-time information, tighter cost and access controls, supported cloud technology and stronger auditability. It also created a scalable data foundation for Power BI, machine learning and future AI applications.
- 3.6-year identified payback period
- Integrated cloud ERP platform
- Standardised processes and improved control design
